New Electric Scooter Teased: Honda Activa Electric?

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has released the first teaser for its upcoming electric scooter. We think it is the new Honda Activa Electric. Marking Honda’s entry into the electric two-wheeler market in India, this new model is scheduled for a November 27 debut, sparking considerable interest in the EV sector. The Activa Electric will be Honda’s first fully electric scooter specifically designed for the Indian market, potentially setting a new benchmark for electric mobility.

“Watt” to Expect?

The teaser, released under the “Watts Ahead” campaign, gives a glimpse of the scooter’s LED headlamp, hinting at a design distinct from the familiar ICE (internal combustion engine) Activa. This model is expected to compete directly with other electric scooters like the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, and Ather 450X, and is anticipated to offer performance equivalent to a 110cc ICE scooter

Honda Activa Electric Features

A key feature of the upcoming Activa Electric is its battery system, which may include dual, swappable Honda Mobile Power Packs designed to deliver a range of over 100 kilometers per charge. These packs can be quickly swapped at designated stations, significantly reducing downtime. This flexibility aligns with Honda’s focus on providing practical solutions for urban commuting, an important factor given India’s challenging charging infrastructure.

The Activa Electric is also rumored to include features like over-the-air (OTA) updates and built-in navigation to locate nearby charging stations, making it an appealing option for technology-savvy consumers. With a price strategy focused on leveraging Honda’s existing manufacturing capabilities, the Activa Electric is expected to be competitively priced, especially as Honda capitalizes on its vast experience in the Indian two-wheeler market

Launch Timeline

This launch is part of Honda’s broader EV strategy, which includes rolling out multiple electric models by 2026, transitioning from existing ICE platforms to more advanced electric technology. With future plans for a full-scale lineup by 2030, Honda’s entry into the EV space marks a strategic shift in India’s rapidly growing electric two-wheeler market.

Honda’s November 27 launch will offer a clearer look at how the Activa Electric will position itself among established competitors and how it might influence the electric scooter landscape in India.
