Audi has given its compact executive crossover, the Q3 and the performance oriented RS Q3, a makeover for 2015. The list of changes includes a newly designed front fascia which includes redesigned headlights, front grille with silver outlining and faux side air intakes minus the fog lamps. The standard set of headlights comes with xenon plus technology and LED daytime running lights. Buyers can also opt for an optional Full LED headlights that are brighter and energy efficient. Audi offers the headlights in combination with the dynamic turn signals integrated into the likewise redesigned LED taillights. These intuitive turn signals illuminate sequentially within two-tenths of a second from the inside out in the direction the driver intends to turn. In terms of dimensions, the design is not much different. The new Audi Q3 is slightly wider than the outgoing version. However, the boot space remains similar to the retiring model.

The firepower on the new Audi Q3 is provided by a total of three TFSI and three TDI diesel four cylinder engines that would be turbocharged and direct injected. The TFSI and TDI clean diesel four cylinder engines boast higher output combined with reduced fuel consumption. CO2 emissions have been reduced by as much as 17 percent. They displace 1.4 or 2.0 liters and produce between 120 hp and 220 hp. All are turbocharged, direct-injection units and comply with the limits of the Euro 6 emission standard. These consumption and CO2 reductions are made possible in part by the Audi cylinder on demand technology. Thanks to their efficiency, the 1.4 TFSI COD and the 2.0 TDI bear the “Audi ultra” badge.

The premium and performance oriented RS Q3, with its 2.5-litre five-cylinder TFSI engine, now produces 340 PS of power and 450 Nm of torque. The power catapults the new RS Q3 from a standstill to 100 kph mark in 4.8 seconds as oppose to the 5.5 seconds in the outgoing model. Top speed is electronically governed at 250 kph. The seven-speed S-tronic transmission has also been re-tuned by Audi which, the company claims, results in faster gear engagement.

The new 2015 Audi Q3 and RS Q3 will come on the production line in February 2015. The prices are expected to hover in USD 36,000 to USD 72,000 range. Once introduced, the Audi Q3 and RS Q3 would compete with the recently introduced Mercedes GLA and Mercedes GLA AMG.
