Millionth KTM Rolled Out of Bajaj’s Chakan Plant

The one millionth motorcycle, a KTM Adventure 390, produced at Bajaj Auto Limited’s Chakan plant in Pune, the world’s top manufacturer of premium motorcycles, marked an important milestone. With the achievement of this milestone, KTM and Bajaj Auto’s productive partnership established a world standard for cooperation between the two automotive tycoons. KTM reached the second half-million milestone less than a year after reaching the first, which shows a rapid expansion of the brand’s popularity.

The accomplishment demonstrates Bajaj Auto’s strength as a multi-category motorcycle manufacturing powerhouse on a global scale. Given that half of the KTMs were shipped to developed markets around the world, Bajaj Auto’s Chakan plant is emerging as a major hub for exports in the nation. A variety of motorcycles under the KTM (125cc to 390cc) and Husqvarna (125cc to 401cc) brands are co-developed and produced by Bajaj Auto.

Numerous models made here feature cutting-edge technology, including market-first features like Motorcycle Traction Control, Cornering ABS, Supermoto ABS, Quickshifter+, and TFT displays. The vendor ecosystem and, more importantly, the technology landscape for Indian motorcycles have both improved as a result of these introductions.

Through partnerships around the world, Pierer Mobility AG (KTM’s parent company) has developed a motorcycle culture and established its brands. Worldwide recognition for their high-performance features and strategic positioning has made brands like KTM, Husqvarna, GasGas, and MV Augusta household names.

Through a strong, pan-Indian network of more than 460 dealers for these renowned brands, KTM India has become the leading sports motorcycle brand over the years. Pro-biking has been spread and India’s racing DNA is developed thanks to initiatives like Pro-XP rides, which have attracted 40,000 bikers to more than 400 events.

At the company’s Chakan plant, Mr. Stefan Pierer, CEO of Pierer Mobility AG, and Mr. Rajiv Bajaj, MD & CEO of Bajaj Auto Limited, were present to commemorate this momentous occasion. The two discussed the amazing success story of KTM’s international journey as well as the remarkable journey of KTM in India.

With an open mind to different battery options, KTM and Bajaj Auto Limited intend to investigate themes that they have in common, such as zero-emission exhaust systems and light electric vehicles for urban settings. In addition, the businesses intend to bring the Chetak EV platform to Europe and develop a standard 48-volt electric two-wheeler platform for serial production in India.
