Michael Schumacher’s son Mick tastes blood with maiden Formula 4 victory

Stepping into a successful father’s shoes is a tall order, more so when your dad happens to be a legend called Michael Schumacher. However, Michael’s 16-year old son Mick seems to be on the right path on ensuring that legendary name stays on the podium for a long time to come. Racing in the German Formula 4 championship, the young racer tasted blood as he won his first ever professional race in an impressive debut weekend. Mick also became the highest ranking rookie as he is now placed fifth overall in the championship.

Racing for Dutch team Van Amersfoort Racing, Mick Schumacher started second on the grid in the last of the three races and finished first behind the safety car, ahead of his team mate Joey Mawson and another rookie Thomas Preining in third. Prior to that, in the first race on Saturday, Mick moved up 10 positions to finish 9th after starting 19th on the grid, also managing to finish 12th in the second race on Sunday. He was with Michael during the unfortunate skiing accident in December 2013, post which, the legendary racer has been receiving intensive therapy at his residence in Lake Geneva, Switzerland. We hope he gets better and witnesses his son recreate some of his father’s magic tricks on the track.
