Mercedes-Benz India is all set to launch a new variant of the S-class – the S400 on the 29th of March. The said variant of the limousine will position itself between the S350 and the S500 variants. Other variants on offer include the S63 AMG, Maybach S500 and S600, apart from the armored versions of the Maybach; namely the Maybach S500 Guard and the S600 Guard.

Earlier seen on the E-class Cabriolet, the 400 suffix suggests that the vehicle would be powered by a 3.0 litre twin turbocharged V6 petrol engine that produces a power output of 329 hp and a peak torque of 480 Nm. This engine is mated to a 7 speed G-Tronic automatic transmission internationally, while power is sent to the rear wheels. Air suspension will be a standard feature on all four sides.

The tag of the most affordable petrol model of the S-class was the S 500 powered by a twin turbo V8 engine but the upcoming S 400 is bound to change that. Officials of the German automobile manufacturer will reveal the price of the S400 at the end of this month and we expect it to arrive with a price tag of Rs. 1.2 crore to 1.3 crore (Ex-Showroom).
