2016 Auto Expo Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza (9)

We were stationed at the Auto Expo that concluded recently and we brought you guys all the updates from the event. The first ever report we filed from the live warfront was the unveiling of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. The Brezza was out of the wraps to take down the compact crossovers from Maruti Suzuki’s rivals. Retribution time! To make its contention even stronger, reports suggest that Maruti Suzuki may roll out a petrol variant and pump up the Brezza with an AMT kit on board.

The crowd at the expo welcomed the baby SUV along with its customized version with loud cheers. For now the Vitara Brezza is available in diesel variants only. Powering the compact SUV will be Maruti Suzuki’s 1.3 litre diesel engine equipped with common rail injection and an inter-cooled Variable Geometry Turbocharger, one that does the duties on the S-cross and the Ciaz. Dubbed as the DDiS 200 engine, it is capable of producing power of 88bhp at 4,000rpm and a peak torque of 200Nm at 1,750rpm.

The power will be pushed to the wheels by a 5-speed manual gearbox. And as per surfaced reports, Maruti Suzuki will take the game up by ‘definitely considering’ an AMT kit for the Brezza. The news comes from the executive officials of Maruti Suzuki who recently expressed their insights about their newly launched vehicle. Without letting out further details the officials also nodded when asked about the petrol variants. However the AMT and petrol variant ideas are still under the works and won’t be executed too soon.
