When it comes to jewellery stores, they’re all pretty much the same – gilded and polished; yet boring. Thinking differently, one particular jewellery brand from Thrissur, Kerala known as Chemmanur International has inaugurated a trailer based mobile jewellery store. The store, christened Parrakum Jewellery (meaning Flying Jewellery in Malayalam) was inaugurated on 30th June at Kohzikode. The model is reportedly said to be the first mobile jewellery store in the country. Being a jewellery store, the trailer features a shade of golden yellow.

Based on the Scania G410 tractor trailer, the mobile jewellery store has been done up by popular design firm DC Design based on the requirements of the owner. Speaking of the owner, this one of a kind specimen is owned by Boby Chemmanur, the Managing director of Boby Chemmanur International Group. Another interesting fact here is that the brand, under the name Boby and Maradona Gold and Diamonds; is co-owned by popular Argentinean football player Diego Maradona. The latter is said to regularly fly down to India to inaugurate new stores of the jewellery chain.

Coming back to the trailer, the interiors will have sales personnel in professional attire such as the ones used by air-hostesses and flight stewards. The trailer is said to be equipped with advanced security systems and CCTV’s, the feed of which would be directly linked to the company’s head office. As a mobile store, the van will house itself in each district for a few days before moving on to the next one in the state of Kerala.

At the heart of the model is Scania’s 12.7 litre six cylinder direct injection diesel engine that produces a maximum power output of 410 hp at 1900 rpm while the peak torque of 2000 Nm comes up at 1000-1350 rpm.
