JSW Motors is slowly stepping into the limelight and its first SUV for India is now officially on the way. The company has released its first teaser and has given a glimpse of what will be its first model under the sstandalone JSW Motors brand.
This teaser has come as part of a nationwide recruitment drive for dealers. JSW Motors is inviting partners to come on board as it prepares to set-up showrooms across India. Interested dealers have been asked to register by March 11, indicating that the brand rollout has now passed into a serious phase.
The SUV in the teaser teaser closely resembles the Jetour T2 sold overseas. The design shows a circular LED headlamp housings with horizontal light strips, as well as pixel-style fog lamps. The bonnet has a tall upright appearance and the bumper and wheel arches are rugged. These details are almost identical to the Jetour T2. One small change can be seen in the mirrors, which appear more compact on the JSW version. Branding will also be changed to JSW.

This SUV is supposed to be a plug-in hybrid. JSW Motors has tied up with Chinese carmaker Chery to introduce this model in India. Unlike being associated with MG Motor, this project will run as a completely independent brand.
The new SUV will be assembled locally at JSW’s new manufacturing plant in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in Maharashtra. It is expected to be about 4.7 metres long, and will seat five people.
Important details anticipated with the SUV
- Plug-in hybrid powertrain including 1.5 litre petrol engine
- 3-speed dedicated hybrid gearbox
- Around 156 PS and 220 Nm
- 26.7 kWh battery
- Electric only driving range up to 130 km
- Fast charging support
The expected starting price is around Rs 45 lakh and this could make it the most accessible plug-in hybrid SUV in India outside the luxury space.
JSW’s decision to introduce a PHEV prevents overlapping with MG’s petrol and electric models. It also puts the brand in a segment that has very few rivals at the moment.
There may be slight delays because of import approvals of some components, but things are clearly moving quickly in preparation. With dealer onboarding and factory plans in place, the first SUV by JSW Motors is no longer a mere plan. It is taking shape for an India launch in 2026.
