Jaguar XE Diesel India Launch To Take Place In April 2017

Reports suggest that Jaguar-Land Rover (JLR) plans to launch a diesel variant of the XE sedan soon. Although the Indian owned British automobile manufacturer has not revealed an official date, it is believed that the company plans to launch the model by the end of this month.

The Jaguar XE sedan was launched in India last year during the 2016 Auto Expo held in Delhi. Currently, the this model is offered only with a petrol engine. This unit is a 2.0-litre four cylinder turbocharged motor that is available in two states of tune: 197 bhp with 320 Nm of torque and 237 bhp with 340 Nm of torque.

Powering the new Jaguar XE variant will be a 2.0-litre four cylinder Ingenium diesel engine that would come mated to an eight speed automatic gearbox. The power output details have not been revealed and hence it remains unclear if the model will be tuned to produce 180 hp as seen in the XF and the F-Pace or if it will arrive with a lower power output of 163 hp. Jaguar could also launch the model with both the states of tune.

Once launched in India, the Jaguar XE diesel will rival the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, BMW 3 series and the Audi A4. Bookings for the XE diesel have begun against an amount of INR 5 lakh. Stay tuned for updates. Meanwhile, let us know your views through the comments section below.
