Hyundai Strengthens EV Charging by Installing 11 Fast Chargers

Hyundai Motor India Limited has made significant strides in expanding its Ultra-Fast charging infrastructure for electric vehicles (EVs) across India, with the addition of 11 new charging stations strategically positioned in key cities and along major highways.

The deployment of these Ultra-Fast charging stations, each equipped with three charging points offering varying capacities of DC power, underscores Hyundai’s commitment to driving EV adoption in India while addressing range anxiety concerns for both intercity and intracity travel.

Where are they placed?

These charging stations are strategically distributed across six major cities, including Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Gurugram, and Bangalore, as well as five prominent highway locations such as Delhi-Chandigarh, Delhi-Jaipur, Hyderabad-Vijayawada, Mumbai-Surat, and Mumbai-Nashik. Most of these stations operate round the clock, offering convenience to customers, and are accessible to both Hyundai and non-Hyundai EV owners.

To further enhance the customer experience, Hyundai has deployed dedicated manpower at these charging stations and ensured the availability of nearby amenities such as coffee shops and restaurants. This holistic approach aims to support customers during the charging process and make their EV ownership journey seamless.

Charging Speed and Cost

The Ultra-Fast DC chargers offer rapid charging capabilities, enabling Hyundai IONIQ 5 owners to charge their vehicles from 10% to 80% in just 21 minutes. Pricing for charging sessions is attractively set at ₹18 per unit for 30 kW chargers, ₹21 per unit for 60 kW chargers, and ₹24 per unit for 150 kW chargers. Customers can conveniently access these charging stations through Hyundai’s myHyundai app, which provides features such as charger discovery, navigation, pre-booking of charging slots, digital payments, and charging status monitoring.

Hyundai EV Charging Plan

In addition to the Ultra-Fast chargers, Hyundai has mapped over 2900 charging points in the myHyundai app under the “EV Charge” section, catering to the needs of both Hyundai and non-Hyundai EV users. Looking ahead, Hyundai plans to further expand its charging infrastructure by adding 10 or more new locations in 2024, ensuring broader accessibility to EV charging facilities across India.

Furthermore, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. has committed to installing 100 charging stations by 2027 as part of its agreement with the Government of Tamil Nadu, as announced during the Global Investor Meet held in January 2024. This proactive approach underscores Hyundai’s long-term commitment to enhancing the overall EV ecosystem in India.
