Hublot unveils the intricate MP-05 “LaFerrari” watch

Swiss based watch manufacturer Hublot, has unveiled an intricate but cool looking watch to celebrate Ferrari’s latest supercar- the LaFerrari. Tagged as MP-05 “LaFerrari”, the Ferrari theme based time gadget might not be as expensive as the Bing Bang 5 Million, which happens to be the most expensive watch at US$ 5 million again built by Hublot, but since only 50 units would be made, expect it to be priced par exclusive (read expensive).

Hublot mentions that the MP-05 “LaFerrari” was developed keeping in mind the technical and design philosophy of the car. A fusion of 637 components- the most ever for Hublot, are housed in a mix of black PVD titanium and carbon fibre revealing the winding crown. The time indicators are the biggest USPs of the watch. Unlike the moving hands in a conventional watch, the time is indicated by rotating anodized black aluminium cylinders on the right. On the opposite left are cylinders indicating power reserve with numerals maximized in white SuperLuminova markings for easier reading and reinforced by anodized red aluminium bars.

The watch features a 50 day power reserve- highest for any hand-wound tourbillion watch in the world thanks to its 11 barrels, arranged in a line just like a spinal column and interconnected so that they do not each discharge in turn but support each other.

The face is made of scratch-proof sapphire crystal, but surprisingly the straps are simple and made of black rubber with a folding buckle. An exclusive watch calls for an equally elite looking case- so what you get is a Schedoni leather and carbon fibre presentation case to keep the watch protected when it’s not adorning your wrist. And yes, you get a MP-05 specific winding toolkit too.

And the price…..you may keep guessing!
