Honda Marks Milestone with 50,000 ADAS-Enabled Cars on Indian Roads

Quick Overview:

  • Honda Cars India crosses 50,000 ADAS-enabled vehicles milestone.
  • Honda Amaze is India’s most affordable ADAS-equipped car.
  • ADAS variants account for 60% of Elevate, 95% of City, and 30% of Amaze sales.

Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) has reached a significant milestone with 50,000 ADAS-equipped vehicles now on Indian roads. This achievement reflects the brand’s focus on enhancing safety through advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

Expanding ADAS Across the Lineup

Honda introduced Honda SENSING in India with the City e:HEV in 2022, marking the debut of ADAS technology in their lineup. The system later extended to the Honda City in 2023, followed by the Elevate and the Amaze—India’s most affordable ADAS-equipped car—by December 2024.

Honda offers ADAS across multiple variants, including manual transmission (MT) models. This makes them the first carmaker in India to provide ADAS in both MT and CVT (automatic) options. Currently, the V, VX, and ZX grades of the Honda City, ZX grade of the Elevate, and ZX grade of the Amaze feature Honda SENSING. The City e:HEV includes it as a standard feature.

Customer Demand for ADAS

The response to Honda SENSING has been strong. ADAS-equipped variants contribute to 60% of Elevate, 95% of City, and 30% of Amaze sales. Among buyers opting for these variants, 1 in 2 chose ADAS as the primary reason for purchase. This indicates a growing consumer preference for advanced safety technology in India.

What Honda SENSING Offers

Honda SENSING relies on a front wide-view camera for real-time road detection. It identifies road markings, vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles, and pedestrians in both day and night conditions. Key safety features include:

  • Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) – Automatically applies brakes to avoid or reduce impact.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) – Maintains a safe distance from the vehicle ahead.
  • Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) – Alerts and assists if the vehicle unintentionally leaves the lane.
  • Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) – Helps maintain lane position.
  • Lead Car Departure Notification (LCDN) – Notifies the driver when the vehicle ahead starts moving.
  • Auto High-Beam (AHB) – Automatically adjusts headlights for better night driving.

Competition in the ADAS Space

Honda faces competition from brands like Hyundai, Kia, and MG, which also offer ADAS in their models. Hyundai’s Verna and Kia’s Seltos feature similar systems, while MG Astor provides a comprehensive ADAS suite. However, Honda Amaze currently holds the edge as the most affordable ADAS-equipped car in India.

Final Thoughts

With 50,000 ADAS-equipped vehicles on Indian roads, Honda Cars India is making advanced safety features more accessible. As customer demand for smart safety grows, the brand’s decision to offer ADAS across multiple models and transmissions sets a benchmark in the Indian automotive market.
