This is how a Honda City Hybrid would look like, if and when it’s ever sold in India. Meanwhile, it goes on sale in Japan calling itself the Grace Hybrid. The Grace, however gains a few premium exterior touches over the City, like the LED headlamps/tail-lamps and some shiny alloy wheels.

Power-train details are limited at the moment, but it is expect to borrow the Jazz/Fit Hybrid’s 1.5-liter VTEC engine coupled with  an electric motor, mated to the Honda’s Intelligent Dual-Clutch Drive. The Grace Hybrid will only be available in all-wheel-drive configuration, just like Jazz/Fit Hybrid.

The new Jazz or Fit Hybrid uses a four-cylinder, 1.5-liter engine working in tandem with a high-output electric motor getting juice from a lithium-ion battery. Total output is rated at 135 hp at 6000 rpm and 125 lb-ft or torque at 5000 rpm. In full electric mode it can stroll at speeds of up to 40 km/h (24 mph), while offering a fuel consumption of just 36.4 km/l overall.

The interiors continue unchanged from the City, expect for tell-tale information about the hybrid power-train being displayed in the instrument cluster and, apart from a few blue highlights inside the cabin. This JDM model also comes with VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist), hill start, heated front seats, city braking system, side and curtain airbags. The Grace Hybrid will be available in three trim levels- the base DX, the middle EX and the top of the line LX.
