The surprise package from Hero MotoCorp‘s series of launches, the Hero Xtreme 200 S is the only faired motorcycle in the company’s lineup at this point in time. Sharing most of its mechanicals, engine included, with the Xpulse 200 and Xpulse 200T, this motorcycle presents itself as a sporty looking package, with adequate performance. Competing against the likes of the Bajaj Pulsar RS200 and the Suzuki Gixxer SF, here are five features that set this motorcycle apart from its competition.
Price
I think we can all agree that India is a very price sensitive market. No matter how good your product is, unless you do not price it right, there is no guarantee of its success in the market. Hero has nailed the Xtreme’s pricing by keeping it quite lower than its competitors and below the 1 Lakh mark. At INR 98,500, ex-showroom, Delhi, the Xtreme is undoubtedly one of the more affordable sporty motorcycles you can buy.
Design
Being the only faired motorcycle in their line-up, the Xtreme carries a very unique design. It is very simplistic and there is just the right amount of sportiness present. It does not scream for attention but asserts the fact that it is not just a commuter. This motorcycle is offered in three shades – Sports Red, Maple Brown, and Panther Black.
Headlamp Design
The classic appearance of the headlamps on the Xtreme 200 S is worth drooling over. Housed inside the wide headlight assembly are two LED lamps, one for your regular low beam and one for your high beam. This wide headlamps cluster is flanked by position lamps on either side and integrated rather well.
Navigation
This affordable sports bike comes with an all-digital instrument console, which hosts a number of features. Apart from your regular features like the gear indicator, clock, trip meter and much more, this console has one really neat trick up its sleeve. You can connect your smartphone with the motorcycle via an application, which allows you to use turn by turn navigation. Now is there any other motorcycle under a lakh that offers that feature?
Fuel Efficient Engine
Powered by an air-cooled, OHC, carburettor fed, 196.6cc single cylinder motor, generating 18.4 PS @ 8,000 rpm and 17.1 Nm @ 6,500 rpm. Married to a 5-speed gearbox, the engine is powerful enough to offer you practical performance, with good low-end torque and high refinement. Moreover, with an ARAI claim fuel efficiency of 40.1 kmpl, it is one of the most fuel-efficient motorcycles out there.
