Hero Debuts The XPulse 200T 4V, Opens Bookings

The launch of Hero MotoCorp’s road-biased version of the XPulse 200 ADV finally happened on December 20, 2022. Since BS6 norms hit, the two-wheeler manufacturer stopped selling the 200T 2V and only focused on its off-road adventure-centric sibling. During this, the company developed a new 4-valve head for the 200cc oil-cooled mill and updated the XPulse 200 4V.

And now, the Tourer bike has also been equipped with its sibling’s 4-valved engine with added power and torque figures. Priced at Rs. 1,25,726 (Ex-showroom, Mumbai) the XPulse 200T 4V has become a complete package in Hero’s two-wheeler portfolio. This update makes the 200T an attractive and youthful product and shows the brand’s commitment to launching more such offerings.

Let us take a detailed look at all that’s new with the XPulse 200T 4-Valve.

Refreshed Looks

New Sports Red dual-tone paint scheme

The XPulse 200T 4V is offered with three all-new dual-tone paint schemes namely Sports Red, Matt Funk Lime Yellow, and Matt Shield Gold. These colour schemes make the motorcycle look bold, funky, and appealing. Sports Red is a combination of black panels with red highlights. While the Matt Funk Lime Yellow scheme has matt silver painted panels with fluorescent lime decals. Lastly, Matt Shield Gold is just a new iteration of the older bike’s colour.

An interesting element in the new version is the coloured cylinder head depending on the colour scheme opted for. In the Sports Red colour, the cylinder head comes painted in red while in the Matt Shield Gold, it is seen in a bronze-gold shade. Although in the Matt Funk Lime Yellow paint scheme, it is painted regular black.

Compared to its older version, the 4V gets some additional bits including fork cover gaiters, a visor, and new graphics. The front visor atop the all-LED headlight is smaller than its ADV version. The circular full-LED headlamp with a chrome ring enhances the looks of the neo-retro-styled motorcycle.

Notably, based on customer feedback, Hero has lowered the headlamp by 20mm to improve the bike’s throw and visibility. Its fuel tank and body panels remain unchanged along with 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends.

Engine & Gearbox

The 200cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine in its 4-valve form proves to be much better than the earlier 2-valve setup. The addition of the 4-valve head allows a much smoother flow of power, especially at higher RPMs while being vibration-free. Power has also gone up to 19.1PS at 8500rpm while torque is also up to 17.3 Nm at 6500rpm.

In addition to greater power at mid & top-range, the 4-Valve fuel-injected engine also provides stress-free performance even at highway speeds. Thus, making the touring badge more suitable. Hero has left the 5-speed gearbox untouched.

Changes to the XPulse 200T 4V

Feature List

On board, the XPulse 200T 4V has an all-digital LCD instrument console with smartphone connectivity, call alerts & turn-by-turn navigation. Additionally, it also features an under-seat USB charger, a gear indicator, and a side-stand engine cut-off function to ensure safety.

Mechanicals

The tourer is suspended by 37mm front forks & a 7-step adjustable mono-shock with braking duties handled by 276mm front and 220mm rear petal disc brakes. The company has equipped the bike with a single-channel ABS and 130mm wide radial tyre at the rear. The rear pillion grab handle has also been revised into a more retro, tube-type one.

All in all, Hero MotoCorp has made the XPulse 200T 4-Valve a more rounded proposition with the updates, and here’s hoping that this time, the bike sells in larger numbers.
