Gautam Singhania unveiled India’s first and only exclusive drifting car in an event in Mumbai. The Chairman and Managing Director of Raymond Limited and Founding Chairman of Super Car Club (SCC) is a well known super car enthusiast. Mr Singhania got this exclusive drift car designed after his emphatic win at the Allstars European Drift Championship held at Malta in September 2012 in the amateur category.
Mr. Singhania won the All Stars Drift European series which had over 30 participants in a modified Nissan Sylvia S13. He edged past the runner up by a narrow margin of 2.5 points. Mr. Singhania was the only Asian and Indian to have participated in the event.
At the event, Mr. Singhania also unveiled a short film on his All Stars Drift European series win. The video depicts his performance at the series and also offered a glimpse into drifting as a motorsport and how he managed to win the title.
At the event, Mr. Gautam Singhania, said, “Drifting as a motorsport has always attracted and intrigued me. I always wanted to learn this form of motorsport. It was great experience while competing at the All Star series. It feels like a great honour to be the champion in one of the most premier professional drifting competitions in Europe. The competition was intense but I managed to win. I will definitely pursue this sport further. The drifting car is testimony to that and I have been practicing in it to hone my drifting skills.”
This win follows close on the heels of SCC’s adventurous Leh Ladakh Expedition 2012 held in August 2012. Here’s a video of Mr Singhania taking his drifting tuitions
More details of the actual car would be welcome, specificaly the upgrades over stock to make the 3 drift spec, tyres used and suspension and Mr GS's thoughts on why the 3 is his tool of choice.
