British motorcycle manufacturer Triumph Motorcycles is all set to expand its Indian line up by adding another product to the list. The Indian arm of Triumph Motorcycles, Triumph Motorcycles India, has sent an official media invite about a launch in Delhi. Going by the poster, the upcoming motorcycle is likely to be a cruiser motorcycle. One of our insider sources, in the meantime, has told us that the upcoming motorcycle is most likely the Thunderbird LT.

Triumph Motorcycles India already retails the Thunderbird Storm in the country. So what to expect from the Thunderbird LT? Well, the LT initials stands for Light Touring. In essence, the Thunderbird LT is the touring variant of the Thunderbird Storm. Internationally, the Thunderbird LT comes with a whole host of touring accessories like:

  • A touring windscreen
  • Auxiliary spot lamps
  • Detachable leather saddle bags with 21-litre storage space
  • Pillion back rest

The US spec Thunderbird LT receives stiffer suspension. But we are not sure if that will be a user-friendly feature on the Indian roads and hence we expect to see a softer suspension set. It also gets loads of chrome which will help it stand out of the crowd. The exhaust is a chromed twin-skin stainless steel 2 into 1 into 2 unit with tandem large-volume catalysts in centralized catbox.

In terms of performance, the Thunderbird LT gets the same 1699cc liquid-cooled, DOHC, parallel-twin engine that is found on the Thunderbird Storm. This engine produces 94 bhp of power and 146Nm of torque and comes mated to a 6-speed transmission. The final drive is via a toothed belt. Thunderbird LT gets a big 21.9 litre tank which would let the motorcycle cover great distances on highway in full tank of fuel.

The Thunderbird LT comes in two colour options:

  • Caspian Blue/Crystal White
  • Lava Red/Phantom Black

The arrival of the Thunderbird LT will give buyers an additional option in the cruising motorcycle segment. The Thunderbird Storm is priced at Rs 13,50,000 (Ex-showroom Delhi). With the addition of the touring accessories on the Thunderbird LT, we expect the prices to hover around the Rs 15.50-16 lakh mark.
