DSK Hyosung will soon be extending its product portfolio in the country with the introduction of two new models. DSK Hyosung will add two new single cylinder motorcycles, the GD250N and GD250R, by the end of this year, confirms company COO Shivapada Ray. However, Ray did not mention any specific period for the launch. Speaking about the future strategy of the company Ray said, “In the Hyosung brand, we are bringing the GD 250 N and R, single-cylinder naked GD250N and the full-faired bike, GD250R.”

The GD250R is mainly targeted to the cost conscious audience and will compete against the Austrian duo, KTM Duke and RC series of motorcycles. These new motorcycles, similar to the current products, would be imported as CKD and would be assembled at DSK’s Wai assembly plant.

Mechanically, the Hyosung GD250R and GD250N will share the power plant. Both motorcycles would be equipped with a 249cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, single-cylinder motor capable of delivering nearly 28 PS at 9,500 RPM and 24.17 Nm of torque at 7,000 RPM. The engine will be mated to a six-speed gearbox.

List of features include projector headlights, upside down front suspensions and an underbelly exhaust to name a few. It also receives a side-mounted rear suspension. The front and rear receive petal disc brakes but unlike the GT250R’s dual front disc brakes, the GD250R gets a single disc setup. While there is no word on pricing, we expect Hyosung to put a price tag of about Rs 2-2.3 lakh.
