Citroën India has commenced the delivery of India’s first mainstream ICE SUV Coupé, the Basalt, to its first customer at the La Maison Citroën dealership in Naraina, New Delhi. The event marks a significant milestone in Citroën’s journey in India, underscoring the brand’s dedication to providing innovative and stylish vehicles that cater to the evolving preferences of Indian consumers.
Thierry Koskas, Citroën Brand CEO, was present at the handover ceremony, where he handed over the keys to the delighted customer. Also in attendance were Shailesh Hazela, MD & CEO of Stellantis India, and Shishir Mishra, Brand Head of Citroën India. The Basalt has garnered widespread attention for its bold design, cutting-edge technology, and exceptional comfort, setting new standards within its segment.

The excitement surrounding the Basalt’s launch is set to spread across India, with additional handover ceremonies planned in various locations. Further customer deliveries are scheduled to begin today. Citroën remains committed to offering products that meet the diverse needs of Indian consumers, with the Basalt standing as a prime example of the brand’s innovative approach.
The Basalt is available with two engine options: a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 81 bhp and 115 Nm of torque, and a more potent 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that delivers 108 bhp and 195 Nm of torque with the manual transmission, and 205 Nm with the automatic. The naturally aspirated variant is paired exclusively with a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the turbo-petrol option offers a choice between a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The Basalt is offered in three trim levels—You, Plus, and Max—with prices starting at Rs 7.99 lakh and reaching up to Rs 13.62 lakh (ex-showroom).
