Don’t be too surprised to see popular automaker Cadillac including a big coupe in its product portfolio in near future. What with the unveiling of the new Elmiraj Concept that you see here on this page? Cadillac says that the latest big coupe concept shows “a new vision for luxury driving and the top of the brand’s expanding range,”.

Also, there are good chances that styling cues from the latest concept would be seen featuring on the carmaker’s upcoming S-Class-rivaling flagship sedan. The new Cadillac Elmiraj coupe measures 5,207mm in length and boasts of  four seats. The concept seems to be the logical successor to the 2011 Cadillac Ciel Concept.

The Elmiraj is built on the same platform that would underpin the upcoming Cadillac flagship sedan and boasts of a rear-wheel-drive layout. Powering the Cadillac Elmiraj is a 4.5-liter twin turbocharged V8 engine that has a max power of 500 hp.

Talking about the car’s design, the Elmiraj uses an evolved version of Cadillac’s “Art & Science” design language. Clay Dean, executive director of advanced design, says the Elmiraj is the “second chapter, following the Ciel Concept, of our exploration of the personas of true luxury,”.

The Elmiraj debuts with the carmaker’s new emblem that does away with the classic laurel wreath and comes with an evolved version of the brand’s signature shield. Cadillac has said that the emblem is basically exploration of an idea of a new logo. However, a final decision regarding the same hasn’t yet been taken.

We just hope that Cadillac decides to bring the Elmiraj to production stage, without doing away with any of the design cues of the concept model.
