BMW X1 Tech Edition Launched At ₹43 Lakh

BMW India has launched the X1 Tech Edition at ₹43 lakhs. This new variant is slotted above the SportX and xLine trim making it the new top-end model. The Tech edition is available with the turbocharged 2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine which churns out 192hp and 280nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission which gets paddle shifters and launch control function. It also gets driving modes such as ECO PRO, Comfort and Sport.

The Tech edition will be exclusively available Alpine White and Phytonic Blue exterior colour option with Sensatec Oyster black upholstery.

Exterior highlights include a typical BMW chrome kidney grille, LED headlights, LED foglamps, bigger twin exhaust pipes, automatic lights and wipers, LED taillights and new 18-inch alloy wheels.

Interior

The interior gets ambient lighting with six colours, electric seats for driver and passenger with memory function, panoramic sunroof and dual-zone climate control. Features include cruise control, 10.25-inch idrive system with wireless apple carplay and inbuilt navigation, heads up display, Hi-Fi sound system with 7 speakers and 205 watts output and park distance control with rearview camera.

The X1 gets a long list of safety features such as 6 airbags, attention assist, ABS, CBC, DSC, DTC, TPMS, ISOFIX child mounts and BMW condition based service system. The X1 petrol doesn’t get the option of four wheel drive. BMW is offering service packages to ensure peace of mind for its customers. The X1 is assembled at BMW’s plant in Chennai.

The X1 also comes with a 2-litre diesel engine which produces 190hp and 400nm of torque. The diesel X1 comes with an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission. BMW might have launched the Tech Edition in response to the newly launched Mercedes Benz GLA. The X1 is almost at the end of its lifecycle and the next generation has already been spotted testing abroad. The next-gen X1 will be revealed next year and it would get the option of an all-electric powertrain too. Expect the next-generation X1 to make it to our shores by 2023.
