After months of wait, DSK-Benelli India have finally revealed the prices and launched the motorcycles for sale in the sub-continent. We covered the event live and interacted with the top management to understand what the Italian two-wheeler manufacturer plans and there are some really interesting plans that Benelli is working upon.
Firstly the sales network. At the launch event, Benelli announced that it will be putting in place nine showrooms in the first phase of its India strategy. The number of showrooms will subsequently rise to 20 by the end of this year. The nine showrooms that would be functional in the first phase would be in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Goa. The details abolut the upcoming showrooms is still under curtains but they would be inaugurated in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. DSK-Benelli will also offer riding gear and accessories which would be directly imported from Italy and the prices, as claimed by the officials, would be at par with the industry.
The company inaugurated the Mumbai showroom, its first showroom in the country under the dealership of ‘Shree Aadya Car Company’. DSK Benelli – Mumbai showcases the entire range of DSK Benelli superbikes available in India. The showroom is located at Hub Town Viva, G6-G7, Western Express Highway, opposite Kohinoor Bakery, Jogeshwari (E).

DSK-Benelli also plans to extendsits product portfolio by the second half of the year. In the first phase, DSK-Benelli have introduced five models for the Indian market ranging from 300cc to 1130cc. Officials are optimistic about the future and expect to introduce three more models by Diwali or by the end of the year. The list of upcoming models will include the TNT 25 and the TRE 1130 K. Benelli will change the nomenclature of all its products globally and plans to axe the “BN” badging. All the Benelli models globally would now be tagged under the “TNT” series. Moreover, DSK-Benelli aims at further extending its product portfolio by five new models next year.

DSK-Benelli confirmed that ALL its models would come to India via the CKD route and would be assembled in DSK’s Pune facility. DSK-Benelli is also considering to expand its production capacity with a new plant likely to be inaugurated in Pune. The duo will also venture into lower capacity motorcycles but that plan will be implemented only in the long term. Talking about the safety aspect, DSK-Benelli said that they are working on introducing anti-lock braking system (ABS) but the motorcycles are not likely to benefit from this safety upgrade before the year end.
