Bajaj-Triumph Alliance: What to Expect

The formal deal between Bajaj Auto and Triumph Bikes was signed in 2020, and since then, there have been numerous rumours regarding their forthcoming line of motorcycles. When the test mules were discovered in the United Kingdom in February 2022, the first-ever spy pictures of what look to be a roadster and a scrambler produced by the alliance appeared online.

The new 350cc motorcycle, which was co-developed by Bajaj and Triumph, was spotted for the first time in India in September 2022. The mid-capacity two-wheeler has style reminiscent of a scrambler and is expected to compete with the Royal Enfield 350cc line-up.

When Triumph Motorcycles UK and Bajaj Auto India announced their alliance in 2017, they promised to bring new mid-capacity motorcycles to the market. In accordance with their plans, the test mule for the first motorcycle created by the partnership was seen for the first time conducting testing in India. The revelation was released after spy images of the mid-capacity motorcycle appeared online and the two-wheeler appeared to be nearly ready for manufacturing. These new products under the cooperation are reportedly mostly created by Triumph, with Bajaj handling the production.

The Motorcycle was supposed to be revealed in 2020 but due to the pandemic its release was delayed and the new release date is still not known.

Expected Design

The Bajaj-Triumph motorcycle appears to follow a classic aesthetic motif with a touch of modernization, at least based on spy photos. The circular headlamp configuration is accompanied up front by a set of retro-inspired indicators and rearview mirrors. The two-wheeler has a traditional handlebar configuration and a prominent visor to ensure the best possible wind deflection. The fuel lid, which is finished in chrome on top, gives the fuel tank a quite robust appearance. The bike has few body panels, and this is mirrored in how much of the frame is left exposed. With a split seat design and a back grab grip for the passenger.

The test mule is equipped with a variety of extras, including a tank bag, knuckle guards, tail bag, tank padding, and a saddle bag on the left side. The bike also features a dual barrel exhaust, a cash swing arm, all-black multi-spoke alloy wheels, and an exposed chain drive. The bike will reportedly have an entirely LED lighting setup while retaining its vintage appeal.

The USD fork will handle the front suspension chores, and a monoshock arrangement will be used for the rear suspension. Regarding braking, the test mule uses disc brakes both up front and in the back, and two channel ABS is clearly present.

The front disc appears to be a 320mm rotor with a radially mounted calliper, similar to what we have seen on the KTM Duke series. The braking system is from ByBre. The motorcycle is equipped with 17-inch wheels and block pattern tyres, which are suitable for light off-roading.

The bike is set to be released in the first half of this year .The Bajaj company will produce the bike locally, and it will probably cost between Rs. 2.5 and 3 lakh. The two-wheeler will compete with models from the Royal Enfield 350cc series and the future 450cc Himalayan Scram twins, as well as other contemporary and classic bikes in the segment like the KTM Duke 390, BMW G310R, Yezdi brothers, and Honda CB350s, among others, once it is released.
