The year 2015 marks the 40th anniversary of the foundation of Giorgio Armani and the 130th birthday of the Piaggio Group and to celebrate their respective anniversaries together, Emporio Armani and Vespa have put together this  special Vespa 946 Emporio Armani edition. There’s no way we can start this piece without bringing to the centre stage the price of this product. The 946 is the epitome of the design prowess at Vespa, and since its more a work of art than an everyday machine, it’s expected to be priced at INR 7-9 lakh if and when it arrives to India. That’s excessive, right? This Emporio Armani edition, stylised further by the super expensive design house, however, is expected to add a couple of lakhs to that price tag. Now that’s what you really call being excessive with extravagance. We’re sure there would be plenty of takers for this ostentatious piece of metal in Bollywood. One thing is for sure though, it’s not meant for lesser mortals like us.

The special edition, tagged as the Vespa 946 Emporio Armani, was jointly developed by Giorgio Armani and Piaggio. The scooter is draped in a special combination of greys with hints of green that are visible only under specific lighting conditions. The name ‘Vespa 946’ alludes to the year – 1946 – the year this scooter was first made.

Cosmetically, the metal parts are produced using galvanic treatments and have a satin finish. The treatment creates an opaque effect in line with the finishing touches of the body. The ‘Emporio Armani’ tag appears on the side, while the eagle logo of the brand sits above the headlight.

The scooter is built upon a steelplate monocoque frame with aluminium parts such as rims, handlebar, side panels, front mudguard, mirror supports and saddle support. Full Led projectors and indicator lights and a full LCD instrument panel jewel up the entire setup further. Other premium accessories on the Vespa 946 Emporio Armani include aluminium cylinder blocks and brown-leather finishes.

The Vespa 946 Emporio Armani draws power from the same 125 cc 4 Stroke 3V electronic injection engine with 11.7 hp and electronic riding controls. Safety net is provided by 220 mm double disc brake with dual channel ABS, ASR traction control and 12-inch wheels.

The scooter is a treat to the eyes and you can check out more images through the image gallery below. Don’t forget to share the news with fellow petrol heads with our social networking tab.
