The new Toyota GT86 TRD has no chances of making it to Indian car market and has been showcased in India as a part of the car maker’s brand building exercise. Globally, only 250 units of the GT86 TRD will be ever made and these models will carry several bits coming from Toyota Racing Development, easily one of the most successful in names in the world of aftermarket automotive parts supplier.
The Toyota GT86 TRD is a 2+2 coupe and is available in Europe in two models- automatic and manual. Both the gearboxes are six speed units adn the car is on sale in two colours: Pearl White and GT86 Black. Toyota GT86 TRD prices are £31,495 for the manual and £32,995 for the auto.
The TRD package adds 18-inch cast TF6 alloys, deep front and side skirts, a rear bumper spoiler and a fast-response quad-exhaust system to the GT86. Insides are almost akin to the regular model, with the only notice-able change being the new TRD gear shift lever. Standard features on the GT86 include- HID headlamps, front fog lamps, limited slip differential, Smart Entry and Start, dual-zone climate control, analogue dials and meters, drilled aluminium pedals, sports seats, scuff plates, cruise control and the Toyota Touch multimedia system.
Toyota claims that the GT86 TRD can accelerate from zero to hundred in just 7.7 seconds and has a top whack of 140mph for the manual variant. The auto variant can achieve the ton in 8.4 seconds and hit a top speed of 130mph.
