Thanks to a keen eyed reader of MotorBash, we now have some spyshots of the Audi A3 sedan. The test vehicle was caught red-handed in the Juhu area of Mumbai during the warm evenings.
Devoid of any camouflage, the test vehicle possessed a ” 1.8 T ” badging below the right-side tail-lamp. Hence, we conclude that the test vehicle was a petrol-engined variant possessing TFSI technology. TFSI stands for “Turbo Fuel Stratified Injection” , a proprietary Audi technology that helps squeeze out the maximum out of each drop of fossil fuel. Audi claims that this technology will help propel the dominant looking sedan from standstill to 100 kmph in about 7 seconds.
The Audi A3 will be the cheapest sedan from the stables of the Stuttgar-based carmaker in India. We expect that the prices will start at about 23 lakhs INR ex-Showroom Delhi, for the base variant of this luxury sedan. The lineup under the brand A3 comprises of the above-mentioned sedan, a convertible as well as another hatchback.
The spied vehicle is powered by a 1.8 Liter petrol powerplant that churns out 170 bhp of power. This is transferred to the front wheels via a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. There will be a diesel option on sale too, and it will be powered by a 2.0 L diesel engine capable of belting out 150 bhp of power and a mammoth 340 Nm of torque. Audi will offer the trademark Quattro AWD system on the 2.0 Litre turbocharged petrol variant.
