2014 MMSC-FMSCI National Racing Championship returns to Chennai

You must’ve seen or heard of racing drivers pulling donuts in their cars, there is only one place in the world though, where donuts are replaced by Idlis as The Madras Motor Sport Club, one of the oldest Motorsport clubs in India, is gearing up to welcome the 2014 MMSC-FMSCI National Racing Championship (NRC) into Chennai this weekend.

The MMRT race track in Irungattukottai will host round 2 of the NRC with the MRF FF1600 and the Indian Touring Car Championship(ITC). They will be joined by the Formula LGB 1300, Indian Junior Touring Car Championship and the brand new Super Stock Category.

MMSC, promoter of the NRC for the 17th year in a row, will host races at all the 3 major circuits in the country as the 1st, 2nd and 4th rounds will be held at Chennai, 3rd in Coimbatore and 5th and final round at the Buddh International Circuit.

The MRF FF1600 is India’s fastest single-seater series, providing the perfect platform for youngsters to polish their skills for international challenges, the cars are designed and built in Coimbatore, and look very much like older F3 machines. The promoters are excited about the new Super Stock Category, in which they allow any homologated car upto 1799cc adhering to group N regulations, which does not allow engine modifications.

For Motorsport fans following the races on TV, MMSC has partnered with Times Now and Doordarshan to broadcast delayed coverage of the event.
