Maruti Suzuki Manesar Plant

Sunday didn’t go down well for the folks at Maruti Suzuki and Subros Auto Air-conditioning Systems. In unfortunate news, a huge fire broke out at Subros’ facility in Manesar on May 29 resulting into a temporary suspension of production at the Maruti Suzuki plant in Manesar as well as Gurgaon. Subros’ is a component supplier and provides air conditioning kits to Maruti Suzuki and many other car manufacturers in India. Both the companies are mutually analyzing and assessing the size and cause of the damage.

Even if the suspension is temporary, the companies have cited that the loss is substantial and they will try to fire up the production as soon as they can. Maruti Suzuki is trying to acquire components from other sources and will resume production immediately as the components become available. The officials of Subros have expressed that the fire at its Manesar plant harshly affected their facility, plant, machinery and stocks as well. Reportedly, a part of the building collapsed due to the fire.

According to a few workers at the plant, the fire was instigated due to a blast in a moulding machine run on a commercial liquefied petroleum gas cylinder. Subros is located at Sector 8, Manesar inside the Maruti Udyog factory premises. It is spread over an area of 38,000 sq meters. Previously, in February 2016, Maruti Suzuki had to temporarily suspend its operations at both its plants located in Gurgaon and Manesar due to the agitation in North India over the reservation for Jats.
