Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer Honda Motorcycles, introduced its quarter-litre motorcycle, CBR250R in India, to take on the Kawasaki Ninja 250R. Now, that the Ninja has graduated to the 300cc segment, we believe Honda would not want to stay behind in the race. Few days back, we reported that Honda will be launching the CBR300R in the United States in August. However, there has been no official word about the introduction of CBR300R in India. Audience were also left disappointed by the absence of the CBR300R from the 2014 Auto Expo.

But latest reports from automotive website, Indian Cars Bikes suggest that the new Honda CBR300R is most likely to hit the showrooms in India by the end of this year. The website got the news through to its dealer sources.

The CBR300R is powered by a single-cylinder 286cc engine that produces 29bhp and 27Nm of torque as oppose to CBR250R’s 25bhp and 22.9Nm of torque. In terms of looks, unlike CBR250R’s single headlight unit, the CBR300R gets a dual headlight bringing its looks closer to its bigger 1000cc sibling, CBR1000RR.

Honda’s US website has been updated with the new details and price tags with the non-ABS variant being priced at USD 4,399 (approximately Rs. 2.60 lakhs) and the ABS equipped version at USD 4,899 (approximately Rs. 2.90 lakh) and the motorcycle will go up for sale in August this year.

Honda will face competition from KTM’s RC series and Yamaha’s R25 which are lined up for Indian market especially the RC390 that is powered by a 375cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine capable of producing 43 bhp. The RC390 will also be priced very competitive just like its naked version, 390 Duke.
