For those unversed to the world of professional boxing, Floyd Mayweather is the man. The five division world champion, with eight world titles, and the lineal championship in three different weight classes under his belt, Mayweather is relentless, and also, ludicrously rich. Rated as the best pound-for-pound boxer, the American also happens to be the world’s highest paid athlete. His love for wealth has earned him the sobriquet “Money Man”. Mayweather, who was initially nicknamed ‘Pretty Boy’ for his face which was incredibly unmarked for a boxer, changed his byname to ‘Money’ after piling up unprecedented amount of wealth for an athlete. Floyd is currently undefeated with a record of 47-0.
But there’s another man, whom the world believes can stop Mayweather in his tracks – the unstoppable, eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao. After years of Floyd shying away from entering the ring with Manny, the two stalwarts in contemporary boxing will finally share the ring on the 2nd of May 2015 in Las Vegas, in what’s believed to be the greatest fight ever in boxing. Some industry observers have predicted that it could top three million pay-per-view purchases, which could amount to upward of $300 million. The current record is $152 million for Mr. Mayweather’s fight with Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. In total, the fight could earn $500 million or Rs 3000 crore in one night, of which, Mayweather will keep close to Rs 1000 crore.
Back to Mayweather, and what’s of more relevance to us is the fact that “Money Man” also likes to indulge in high-end cars, apart from high-end homes and watches. duPont REGISTRY, an all encompassing online luxury brand and market publication, interviews the man himself, and glorifies his collection of cars, which he refers to as “toys”, and “wrist toys” (high-end watches) through the lens of Dave Nickerson of Nue Vue Photography.
Photographed here is his Las Vegas garage, only one of the three car collections Mayweather owns — the other two are in LA and Miami. So let’s specify the high-dollar, all white field – a Bugatti Veyron, a Ferrari 458 Spider and a 599 GTB, a Rolls-Royce Drophead Coupe as well as a Phantom. However, Mayweather’s pride and joy is a 1996 Mercedes-Benz S600 V12 (W140) that takes center-stage amongst doubly and triple-priced cars. A car that he admits first fueled his passion for high-class rides when he first began his career.
This is only the tip of the iceberg however, as this is just a fraction of his automotive collection. Reports suggest that all of it is collectively worth a staggering $7.3 Million or Rs 45 crore! As for Mayweather’s personal, luxuriant homes, he says that they are like his cars, clothes and jewelry; a representation of himself.
