Honda Elevate vs Kia Seltos vs MG Astor: ADAS Rivals Compared!

Honda had just unveiled the Elevate and it competes with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, and the Volkswagen Taigun. All of these cars fill a niche and create a spot of their own for instance, the Grand Vitara is the most grown-up car and has sensible engine options with impressive fuel mileage. On the other hand, Kia Seltos steals everyone’s heart with its features for creature comforts. Let us see where the Honda Elevate slots in.

Honda Elevate

Equipped with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine, the Honda Elevate delivers a powerful performance. Although drivers can choose between a 6-speed manual or a CVT gearbox, both are expertly paired with a well-tuned gasoline engine. With an impressive 119bhp and 145Nm of peak torque, the Elevate promises an exhilarating driving experience. Plus, its fuel efficiency is commendable, with an ARAI-certified mileage of 15.31 km/l (manual transmission) and 16.92 km/l (automatic option).

Honda’s Bold and Muscular Design

The Honda Elevate is very easy on the eyes with its straight lines and muscular appearance. Its upright stance exudes strength, and the front grille’s vertical alignment with tapered edges, adorned by a stylish chrome garnish, adds an air of sophistication. Sleek LED headlamps and fog lamps, located within triangular enclosures on the front bumper, contribute to its modern look. Additionally, a silver-colored faux skid plate enhances the SUV’s rugged appeal at the front.

Moving to the side profile, the Honda Elevate maintains its commanding presence. Body cladding over the wheel arches and bottom of the door panels gives it a sporty touch. Silver-colored roof rails, chrome-finished rearview mirrors, and 17-inch machined alloy wheels all contribute to its overall stylish appearance.

At the rear, the Honda Elevate retains its bold design with inverted L-shaped combination tail lamps featuring LED inserts. Moreover, A roof-mounted spoiler, rear wiper, washer, and defogger add practicality. Meanwhile, the black garnish over the rear bumper and silver-colored faux skid plate enhance the SUV’s rugged and appealing aesthetic. Overall styling isn’t something that will make your head turn, designers made it simple and inoffensive. However, some people can find the lack of edgy styling off-putting as everyone is doing it and it is now normal. Honda Elevate’s styling is made for someone who likes to stay under the radar.

Honda Elevate ADAS

Honda Elevate uses Honda City’s ADAS level 2 hardware also called the Honda Sensing which includes things like Collision Mitigation Braking System, Road Departure Mitigation System, Lane Keeping Assist System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Auto High-Beam, and Lead Car Departure Notification System. However, Elevate’s ADAS system uses a camera-based system that is tuned for Indian cities and traffic but it doesn’t work well in foggy or rainy conditions.

MG Astor ADAS

MG Astor was the first model in its segment to feature an ADAS level 2 suite with features such as Lane Keep Assist and Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Monitoring, and Emergency Braking to name a few. Moreover, the MG implementation uses radar in conjunction with cameras for a robust and accurate ADAS, especially in poor weather conditions.

Kia Seltos ADAS

The newly updated Kia Seltos has included the ADAS package in its long list of features. Kia’s implementation supports ADAS Level 2 and comes with Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Front Collision Warning and Avoidance Assist, Lane Keep Assist, and Blind Spot Collision Warning. Like the MG Astor, it also uses a combination of cameras and radar which makes it more accurate and robust than the Honda’s implementation no matter the weather.

Conclusion

If ADAS is a feature you really want to depend upon then Kia Seltos or MG Astor would make more sense to you that being said, Honda has its own pros like a really fun-to-use manual gearbox and best-in-class boot capacity. It will boil down to pricing, we do not know yet if the Honda will be priced significantly lower or not, because clearly it is lacking some premium features like a fancy automatic transmission, and a turbo engine to name a few.
