The BMW i8, which was spotted testing with heavy camouflage in Las Vegas in July, has finally been teased by BMW in this teaser clip.

This car will break covers on September 10th 2013 at the IAA and through this teaser video BMW has teased the second “i” member, as they have already revealed the i3 in late July. While the i3, which is being described as a “revolutionary step towards sustainable mobility”, and is essentially a city car, the i8 will be a hybrid supercar which can give a tough time to most fuel guzzling monsters out there.

The i8 will be potent enough to dismiss off the 62 mph mark from standstill in less than 4.5 seconds and is electronically limited at 155 mph (250 km/h).

These figures will be achieved from a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder TwinPower Turbo petrol engine producing 231 HP of max power and 320 Nm of torque. This Bimmer will be rear wheel driven. The front axle will be powered by an electric motor producing 131 HP and 250 Nm of torque which will result in a combined output of 362 HP and 570 Nm of torque.

The 2014 BMW i8 will tip the scale at less than 1490 kg and will return a fuel efficiency of 94 mpg (US) with the emission figures of 59 g/km of CO2. BMW also states that the electric range of this hybrid will be 22 miles (35 km) and will hit a zero-emission top speed of 75 mph (120 km/h).

Finally, BMW customers can have some serious fun without damaging the Mother Earth and also their own pockets.
