The Audi A3 is the entry-level sedan in the company's portfolio, priced at Rs 33,12,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Audi A3 comes in two different variants- Premium Plus and Technology. Powering the Audi A3 is a 1.4-litre petrol and 2-litre diesel mill, which come mated to an automatic gearbox.
The Audi A3 is the is a smart-looking sedan, which comes available in five different colours namely Glacier White Metallic, Cosmos Blue, Nano Grey Metallic, Tango Red and Brilliant Black. The Audi A3 tips the scales at 1490 kgs. The sedan is 4456 mm long, 1796 mm, 1416 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2637mm. The front profile of the sedan houses a huge blacked-out grille with Audi logo and some chrome inserts. Illumination in the Audi A3 is done by Xenon headlights with LED DRLs. The sedan comes equipped with some premium looking elements such as a panoramic sunroof, 16-inch alloy wheels, blacked-out B-pillar and body-coloured wing mirrors. The rear of the A3 gets sporty looking taillights, shark-fin antenna, Audi badging and dual chrome exhaust pipes.
The Audi A3 gets a sporty looking a blacked-out cabin. The leather inserts on the steering wheel and gear knob look premium. Infotainment function is done by an 8-inch, touchscreen system which comes linked to 8 speakers. Moreover, the aluminium and silver inlays on the dashboard and door panel look quite upmarket. The faux leather seats are pretty comfortable for long distances. The car also gets some convenience features like drivers armrest, three rear headrests and electrically adjustable driver's seat. Storage spaces in the Audi A3 include cup holders, glove box, side pockets and a 425-litres of luggage space. The circular A/C vents with silver inserts look sporty and they are quite efficient in chilling out cars cabin in no time. The Audi A3 comes loaded with features like cruise control, dual-zone electronic climate control, internally adjustable ORVM, electronic parking brake, steering mounted control and colourful driver's instrument cluster.

The Audi A3 derives power from a 1.4-litres, TFSI petrol engine which develops 150 Ps of power at 5000rpm and 250 Nm of peak torque at 1500 rpm. The petrol unit comes linked to a 7-speed automatic gearbox. On the other hand, the car also comes equipped with a 2.0-litre diesel mill which churns out respective power and torque output of 141 Ps at 3500 rpm and 320 Nm at 1500rpm. The engine comes paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission. Both the engines are rated for a fuel-efficiency of 16.60 kmpl (petrol) and 20.38 kmpl (diesel). The petrol unit can sprint from 0 to 100 in just 8.2 seconds and the diesel engine can does the same job in 8.6 seconds. The sedan can achieve a top speed of 215 kmph. The Audi A3 was launched in India in 2014 amid much fanfare. The car came to the Indian shores after conquering the world by having received the 2014 World Car of the Year Award. The entry model into the Audi brand was much loved owing to its balanced design, fresh new interiors which were minimalistic yet comfortable and practical and a pair of capable engines which were pretty frugal too.
The A3 is a sorted product and has done reasonably well in India. However, it had reached halfway in its product life cycle and needed to receive a refresh to keep its appeal intact.
