Range Rover Sport Electric Previewed With 550 HP Dual Motor Setup At Goodwood Festival of Speed

Luxury SUVs are entering a new chapter, and Range Rover is making sure it stays ahead of the curve. At the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed, the brand gave selected guests an early look at the upcoming Range Rover Sport Electric. It is the second fully electric Range Rover after the flagship Range Rover Electric and adds another choice to the Sport lineup.

The new SUV will go on sale in global markets in September 2026. It is expected to reach India next year. Even though it switches to an electric powertrain, the SUV still carries the familiar Range Rover Sport character that buyers already know.

Powertrain and driving technology

The biggest talking point is the electric setup. Some key highlights include:

  • 118.5 kWh battery pack
  • Dual electric motors
  • All-wheel drive system
  • Combined output of 550 hp
  • 800V electrical architecture
  • Regenerative braking
  • One pedal driving mode
  • Around 700 km expected driving range

Range Rover has also given the SUV a new chassis setup designed for the electric powertrain. Thanks to the battery placed low in the vehicle, the centre of gravity is lower than before, which should help improve stability during cornering.

The SUV also supports different regenerative braking settings. Drivers can choose between light and standard regeneration in Drive mode, while Sport mode enables one pedal driving.

Design gets small EV touches

From a distance, the electric Sport looks very similar to the standard model. However, a few details help set it apart.

Some notable changes include:

  • Closed front grille for improved aerodynamics
  • Newly designed aerodynamic alloy wheels
  • EV badging on the wheel caps
  • Slightly cleaner front styling

The lower centre of gravity, thanks to the battery placement, is also expected to improve handling around corners.

Cabin Stays Premium

Step inside and the experience feels instantly familiar. The dashboard design, digital displays and premium materials are similar to the regular Range Rover Sport. Buyers will continue to get a modern cabin loaded with technology, luxury features and high quality finishes.

The electric version focuses on delivering a quiet and refined driving experience without changing the premium feel that customers already expect from the SUV.

Luxury SUV rivals

Once it reaches global markets, the Range Rover Sport Electric will compete with premium electric performance SUVs including:

  • Porsche Cayenne Electric
  • BMW iX5
  • Mercedes Benz EQS SUV
