Renault has shown the first glimpse of a new SUV called Bridger. The full concept will be revealed on March 10, 2026. What makes this news big is simple. This SUV is being designed and developed in India. Production will also happen here. That makes it an important product for our market.

Bridger will sit below the Duster in Renault’s line up. It is expected to be a sub 4 metre SUV. Many reports already spoke about a Mini Duster under development. Bridger looks like that project taking shape.
From the teaser, the SUV has a proper boxy shape. It has straight lines and an upright stance. The spare wheel is mounted on the tailgate, which gives it a strong lifestyle look. It reminds many people of rugged SUVs like Thar and Jimny. Renault says it will not compromise on space even though it stays under 4 metres in length.
The concept will be shown at Renault’s futuReady event on March 10. The production version is likely to use a monocoque platform. It will sit alongside the Kiger in the brand’s portfolio.
What we know so far

- Designed and developed in India
- Will be produced in India
- Boxy SUV styling
- Tailgate mounted spare wheel
- Five door layout
- Positioned below Duster
- Likely to rival Thar and Jimny

- Manual and CVT gearbox options possible
The expected engine could be the 1.0 litre turbo petrol that makes around 100 hp. This is the same unit seen in the Kiger. Renault may offer both manual and CVT choices.
The name Bridger comes from the word bridge. Renault says it marks a new phase in its global push. India plays a key role in that plan, as it is now the third largest car market in the world by volume.
Many questions remain. Will it get real 4WD like Thar? Will pricing stay competitive? Will it offer modern features like sunroof or advanced safety tech? Answers will come on March 10.
For now, Bridger looks like Renault’s serious attempt to enter the lifestyle SUV space with a product made in India for India and the world.
