  • Kalyani Group unveils the MArG 155mm/45 Cal mounted gun system at IDEX 2025.
  • The 4×4 high-mobility vehicle (HMV) offers unmatched firepower, range, and agility.
  • Designed for rapid deployment, it features an impressive shoot-and-scoot capability.

Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited, the defense arm of Bharat Forge, has introduced the MArG 45 at IDEX Abu Dhabi 2025. The 155mm/45 caliber mounted gun system is built on a 4×4 all-terrain high-mobility vehicle, delivering a combination of firepower, mobility, and range. The launch, officiated by India’s Ambassador to the UAE, Shri Sunjay Sudhir, highlights India’s growing presence in the global defense sector.

Advanced Capabilities and Firepower

The MArG 45 is designed for rapid deployment in complex battlefield environments. It can fire conventional ammunition beyond 36 km and is compatible with NATO-standard and in-service rounds. The system has a total weight of 23.5 tons and carries 18 rounds with Zone 6 onboard. Its advanced chassis, developed in-house, ensures high agility in diverse terrains.

With an elevation range from -2° to +72° and a 25° traverse on both left and right, the MArG 45 adapts to dynamic battlefield conditions. It features a swift action time—1.5 minutes during the day and 2 minutes at night—making it a formidable choice for rapid-response operations. The gun system supports an intense rate of fire of 10 rounds in 3 minutes and a sustained rate of 42 rounds in 60 minutes, ensuring continuous combat readiness.

Competitive Edge

In the mobile artillery space, the MArG 45 competes with platforms such as the French CAESAR 155mm, Israeli ATMOS 2000, and South Korean K9 Thunder. While these systems offer similar firepower, the MArG 45’s integration on a 4×4 chassis provides superior maneuverability, making it ideal for rapid deployment in rugged and inaccessible regions.

India’s Growing Defense Manufacturing Capability

Kalyani Group’s latest innovation underscores India’s push for self-reliance in defense technology. As global armed forces seek agile and highly mobile artillery systems, the MArG 45 emerges as a strong contender in the international market. The system’s ability to deliver sustained firepower while maintaining rapid mobility makes it a strategic asset for modern warfare.

Final Thoughts

The MArG 45 sets a new benchmark in mobile artillery with its blend of firepower, agility, and rapid deployment capability. As nations seek advanced solutions for modern battlefield challenges, this India-made system positions itself as a strong alternative to global competitors. With Kalyani Group’s commitment to innovation, the MArG 45 could play a key role in shaping future artillery systems worldwide.
