Bharat Charge Alliance (BCA) and the CHAdeMO Association have teamed up for a smooth and user-friendly EV charging solution. Now, BCA and CHAdeMO are working towards developing the interoperable charging infrastructure in the country.
This partnership is set to transform the EV infrastructure by simplifying the charging experience for users and making the accessibility of charging stations.

Aim of Bharat Charge Alliance and CHAdeMO Association Partnership
The main goal of this partnership is to establish a secure, reliable, and user-oriented electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. However, this goal will be achieved by adopting internationally recognized protocols and standards. With this effort, it will create a large EV charging network accessible to all users for both public and business sectors.
Additionally, the Alliance is working on a smooth charging experience that requires minimal modifications to vehicles. This ensures affordability and adaptability for charging solutions.
Details about Fulfilling Norms of AIS
In an important move towards achieving its main goals, the Association is working on the development of interoperable charging infrastructure in India. The strategy involves adopting the IS/IEC standards for crafting interoperable charging infrastructure.
The Alliance’s upcoming plans include the implementation of the IS17017-25 (derived from IEC 61851-25) EVSE standard and the IS17017-2-6 (IEC 62196-6) vehicle inlet and connector standard, as per the Bureau of Indian Standards.
By fulfilling global IEC standards, BCA aims to ensure that vehicles are not restricted to specific markets, whether domestic or international. This collaboration marks a huge step towards a more organized EV charging landscape.

Official Statement
The BCA initiative is led by Kapil Shelke, Founder & CEO, of Tork Motors. Speaking about the initiative, Kapil said, “I have always believed in the democratization of technology to make it accessible and cost-effective for the consumer. Standardization of charging infrastructure will open up a whole new dimension for EV users in the two- & three-wheeler segments, where a chunk of the market exists and adoption is rising. Interoperability and ease of utilizing each other’s charging network will be key towards ending the anxiety and apprehension about EVs and its ecosystem among sceptics.”
Speaking on this collaboration, Tomomi Hakomori, Public Affairs Director at CHAdeMO Association, said, “We are pleased to be able to collaborate with BCA and to contribute to improving the charging infrastructure in India, and are looking forward to the flourishing future of e-mobility in India”.
