The Auto Expo! It is just so exciting. It shows us what the auto companies have in store for the future. From radical concepts to newly released models, to models that are going to be released, the Auto Expo really shows us the beauty of the automotive industry and what cars and bikes can be capable of in the future.
The upcoming Auto Expo 2023 in New Delhi after a two-year hiatus, holds quite a lot of promise, though it might not be as exciting as it always is, because many car manufacturers are backing out this time. In this article, let us look at the ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) cars that we are going to see in the Auto Expo 2023.
Maruti Suzuki
Let us start with Maruti Suzuki, the largest car manufacturer in India. They are coming up with the Baleno-Cross. The Baleno-Cross will be a Baleno designed in the form of a crossover, which will sit below the Brezza in terms of price. It is expected to look smashing and its ground clearance will be higher than the original Baleno. It will look sturdier and there is a remote possibility that Maruti Suzuki will plonk in the strong-performing 1.0-liter powerhouse of a turbo-petrol engine, the one which we had seen in the Baleno RS, making a glorious comeback. The price will be around 10 lakh rupees to be specific.
Another entrant from the Maruti Suzuki stable will be the Jimny 5-door. This much-awaited SUV will finally make its entry into India. It will come with a 1.5-liter petrol engine (a very familiar powerplant….seen in the Ciaz and the Ertiga, even the Brezza) and an all-wheel drive for honing around off-road of course. You will get to see a very boxy design, which people will obviously love, which is kind of a throwback to the much-loved Gypsy of yore.
Besides that, we will also get to see the new generation of the much-loved Swift, which has been India’s favorite for more than a decade, as of now. Some new features, better safety, and better performance can be expected from this generation of the Swift.
Hyundai
The most important of all Hyundais at the expo is going to be the Creta, which is a really successful car in India. The Creta facelift will come with a lot of changes-Parametric Grilles, and a lot of other changes in terms of design. When it comes to the interiors, there will be big screens in the instrument console, and the screen on the dashboard will be integrated to give a beautiful look. Finally, we will get the ADAS feature in the Creta, and we will see its launch in mid-2023.
The other big launch from Hyundai is going to be that of the new generation of the Verna. People are excited about this one as well, even though the sedan segment isn’t really fired up. The Verna still is a popular car because it is one of the closest today in its segment, which comes close to being a value-for-money all-rounder. The all-new version will have more space and better features.
We will also get to see something new-a 7-seater MPV which is called the ‘Stargazer’. It will be a premium MPV.
Another interesting product is a really small SUV from Hyundai, something the size of a Tata Punch, which is apparently called the ‘Casper’ (AX-1), a direct competitor to the Tata Punch.
Tata Motors
Another manufacturer that is sending shockwaves in the Indian market and really creating an impact is Tata Motors. They seem to have quite a lot up their sleeve.
First off, we will get to see the facelifted versions of the Harrier and the Safari. The big highlight here is that we will get to see the ADAS feature in these cars. Tata will also solve the issues regarding these cars and aesthetically they will look better, be it exterior or interior. Coming to the engine options and transmission options, nothing much is going to change.
We will also see the Tata Curvv Concept in more production-ready form. It will come first in the form of an EV, and then it will get ICE engine options. This is a Coupe-SUV and quite a stylish one at that.
Kia
Let us look at another Korean manufacturer, that, in a very short span of time, turned the Indian car market upside down. Yes, we are talking about Kia!
Kia Seltos is also getting facelifted, and we are getting ADAS option as well. The Kia Seltos is already a favorite among Indians, but for those who are considering buying one, hold your horses and wait for Auto Expo 2023.
The newer variant of the Kia Carnival will also be shown at the auto expo.
Morris Garages
MG will also be there at the auto expo. We can expect some new cars from MG, or updated versions of existing models.
Toyota-the established Japanese player
Toyota will showcase the Innova HyCross at the auto expo. We could also see the updated version of the much-loved Innova Crysta
Who isn’t showing up?
Mercedes Benz, BMW, Audi, Volkswagen, Mahindra and Mahindra, and Renault will not be showing up in the Auto Expo 2023.
The others
We can also expect a lot of concept cars at the auto expo, quite a lot of interesting concepts. They might not get into production, but they will look really good and will in general be very interesting.
