After a bunch of teasers, Maruti is all set to launch the Grand Vitara tomorrow. The flagship mid-size SUV from Maruti is closely related to Toyota’s Urban Cruiser Hyryder. Bookings for the Grand Vitara are already underway and we expect it to be priced competitively going by a previous leak that stated it to start around the ₹9.5 lakh mark. The Grand Vitara will be sold exclusively via Maruti’s Nexa outlets. Let’s take a look at what we can expect from it:

Based on Suzuki’s Global C platform the wheelbase of this SUV will be similar to the Hyryder and the dimensions as well are expected to be the same. The Hyryder is 4365 mm long, 1795 mm wide, and 1635 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2600 mm. It will be equipped with LED headlights with LED DRLs and LED taillamps. Other exterior details include silver skid plates for the front and rear and 17-inch alloy wheels.
Maruti is expected to differentiate between the mild Hybrid and strong Hybrid variants by giving different interior themes for both. Extensive use of leather for the upholstery and inserts all around the cabin is also expected. The interior will be equipped with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Carplay, Arkymys sound tuning and 55+ Suzuki Connect connected car features including remote vehicle ignition. Other features will include ventilated leather seats, a 7-inch MID, push-button start/stop, automatic climate control, a heads-up display, 360-degree parking camera, a panoramic sunroof, and an auto-dimming IRVM.
Grand Vitara will be powered by the same engine as the Toyota Hyryder. The first engine is a 1.5-liter mild-hybrid unit that delivers 101 hp and 136 Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters. The other engine is a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated Atkinson Cycle engine that produces 92 hp and 122 Nm of torque. It comes paired with an electric motor that produces 79 hp and 141 Nm of torque resulting in a total power output of 115 hp. It comes mated to an e-drive transmission. This system is paired with a 177.6 V lithium-ion battery which will enable the Grand Vitara to run on an electric-only range of up to 25km.
