McLaren S Le Mans Edition

McLaren 650S Le Mans Edition launched

McLaren 650S Le Mans Edition (1)

Remember the legendary McLaren F1 GTR? The one with the cool, roof mounted snorkel and track readiness, sweeping Le Mans wins like a walk in the park.  In 1995, five McLaren GTRs finished the 24 Hours of Le Mans, taking 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 13th place. To commemorate those wins and re-live the astounding piece of automotive kit from Woking, McLaren has given the 650S the LeMans treatment.

MSO (McLaren Special Operations), the bespoke arm of Woking, has laced the current 650S with F1 GT-R elements, right down to the roof snorkel. Consulted on by F1 designer Peter Stevens, the 650S is kitted out to mimic the race-winning F1 GTR #59. The 650S Le Mans wears an unique metallic Sarthe Grey shade, a nod to the race-car, apart from a splattering of orange on the brake calipers and the logo on the rear haunches.  The 650S Le Mans also features “wing louvers,” lots of carbon fiber trim pieces, and rides on a set of staggered, F1 GTR-replica Le Mans Edition lightweight five-spoke wheels (measuring 19 inches in diameter up front and 20 inches in back).

That roof mounted snorkel works, feeding air to that  mid-mounted 3.8-liter turbocharged V-8, apart from creating some aural drama inside the cabin as well. Inside, there’s lot of Alcantara trimming, apart from Le Mans logos, which are embossed on the headrests and floor mats. Each car also features its own dedication plate. Yours for a cool 2.3 crores INR.
