The 2015 Fiat Doblo has been previewed in the UK. Agreed, the extremely practical and roomy Doblo was never winning beauty contests, but for 2015, Fiat has ensured that its popular people mover stays sharp! The extensive face-lift involves a smart new front bumper, headlamps and air intake design. At the rear there’s revised tail lights, and more body colored trim. New alloy wheels complete the exterior revisions.
The Fiat Doblo engine range has also been revamped, which now includes the 94bhp, 1.4 litre petrol engine, and a 105bhp 1.6-litre Multijet oil-burner. Minor tweaks have been made to the car’s gearshift and throttle to make it better to drive, and there’s now better sound insulation too. The new Doblo will be available in three trims- the entry-level Pop, the mid-spec Easy and the top-end Lounge. All models also now get new safety kit as standard, like stability control, hydraulic brake assist, hill hold and a tyre pressure monitoring system, besides start/stop, remote central locking, electric mirrors, steering wheel audio controls, seat height adjustment and electric front windows.
In the UK, the new Fiat Doblo will go on sale January onward, and will start from 13.3 lakh INR in its European guise, which makes us ponder if Fiat India could possibly bring down a watered down version of the van to our shores. Rest assured, it’ll be a worthy competitor for the Maruti Ertiga, Honda Mobilio and the Datsun Go+.
