The Citroen DS Divine Concept is one of those rich, glinting, style laden French concepts that look like a million bucks. I won’t use the word quirky on this one because of it’s knee buckling prettiness. The lines on the outside are pure poetry and the surrealism continues on the inside as well, which has silks, beads and is studded with crystals.
The Divine is roughly the same size as the C4, and previews an eventual DS4 replacement for Citroen’s self-contained DS brand. The 1.6-litre turbocharged engine from the new Peugeot RCZ R sits under the bonnet. Developing 270bhp and 244lb ft of torque, the Divine should be able to haul its artsy self pretty quick.
The things that shout out loud on the exteriors are the suave grille and the manic roof. While the grille features floating diamond shaped elements that reflect light, the roof has been designed to resemble ‘the scales of a reptile’. What’s more, its a mixture of opaque and transparent surfaces are intended to play with light, while there’s not actually a rear window.
The interiors are an eclectic tone of exotic materials and colors. The bewildering array of customization options available is referred to as ‘Hyper-typage’. Also, three ‘dress codes’ (trim) for the dashboard and doors are named ‘Mâle’, ‘Parisian Chic’ and ‘Fatale Punk’.
‘Mâle’ uses carbon fibre alongside glazed and burnished leather to give a ‘highly masculine’ ambiance. ‘Parisian Chic’ adds silk, satin and beads to the mix, while Fatale Punk incorporates ‘millions’ of tiny crystals, courtesy of Swarovski.
