SPIED: Volkswagen Vento diesel DSG automatic spotted

German car maker, Volkswagen is going to introduce the automatic transmission variant of its sedan, the Vento very soon. The new Vento diesel variant with the DSG automatic gearbox is likely to hit the showrooms this festive season and Volkswagen is testing the vehicle well before introducing it to their audience. The vehicle has been spotted several times near the company’s production facility in Chakan, Pune. The latest spy pictures have emerged from automotive website Top Gear which spotted the test mule on a petrol station.

The new Volkswagen Vento is expected to don a 1.5-litre diesel engine which would churn out 104bhp of power and will come mated with a 6-speed DSG transmission. This new engine will replace the 1.2-litre 3-cylinder TDI and the 1.6-litre TDI in the Polo and the Vento. We expect Volkswagen to introduce this variant in this festive season and price it Rs 90,000 to a lakh dearer to the current Vento.

Once launched, the new Vento automatic transmission will compete against Honda City and Hyundai Verna. This may also be Volkswagen’s strategy to offer a product that can hold the fort against the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz until the company comes up with a refreshed Vento.
