The new Yamaha YZF-R15 S has been launched in India at a sticker price of INR 1.14 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). For some, it might be exactly what the doctor ordered, as it blends the style and stance from the original V 1.0 with the mechanical bits from the V 2.0. Yamaha India refers to the new R15 S as a ‘single seat’ variant of their flagship motorcycle, and admits that its introduction is “owing to the customer requirements”, which insisted for a more comfortable, as well as convenient pillion seat.

The new R-15 S adopts the fairing from the Version 1.0, including the rear end with the single seat, with the addition of new graphics. The new (or old) bodywork hides Version 2.0 mechanicals, which means that the R15 S has a liquid cooled, 149.8cc, SOHC, 4 Valve engine, still good for 17PS of power @ 8,500rpm and 15Nm of torque @ 7,500rpm, along with disc brakes all around and a Delta Box frame. Fuel capacity stands at 12 litres. The R15 S will be sold alongside the split seat variant.

Mr. Roy Kurian, Vice President- Sales & Marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd shared, “Yamaha R15 is a pure sports vehicle designed especially for racing enthusiasts so that they can experience the power and passion that a sports bike has to offer. However, our research showed that a particular customer segment desired for a single seat version as it is more convenient for the pillion rider. Even so, the split seat version 2.0 will also continue to be in the market along with the new single seat variant. We, at Yamaha keep our customers first and hence this introduction was imperative. ”

  1. What ever you launch first take care of service provided to the customer. Very worst ever I seen such kind of service for the bikes. Ashamed and feeling bad to buy bikes from Yamaha who never cares their customers. Poor service poor response and worst behaviour in the service show rooms. Totally unhappy.
