Volvo India has revealed the launch date for the upcoming S90 luxury sedan. The Indian arm of the Swedish automobile manufacturer will launch the S90 on 4th November in Mumbai. The model will take on a few German competitors such as the Audi A6, Mercedes-Benz E-Class and BMW 5-series apart from the XF from the Indian owned British marquee Jaguar. Based on the company latest Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform that underpins the XC90 SUV, the S90 replaces the outgoing generation of the S80 that was sold in India. A few features on the S90 include the Thor’s Hammer LED DRLs, LED fog lamps, C shaped LED tail lights and twin chrome tipped exhaust pipes divided by a chrome strip running the length of the rear bumper.
Moving on to the interiors, the upcoming S90, which will be initially available only in the D4 diesel Inscription trim, is equipped with Nappa leather upholstery, 3 spoke multifunction steering wheel, climate control, a 9 inch high definition infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Heads-Up Display (HUD), Bowers & Wilkins audio system and three drive modes.

Powering the model will be a 2.0-litre four cylinder turbocharged diesel engine capable of producing a power output of 190 PS while the peak torque will be rated at 400 NM. Transmission duties will be handled by an eight speed automatic transmission sending power to the front wheels. Expect the model to arrive with a price tag of approximately Rs. 55 lakh. Once launched, the S90 will rival the new jaguar XF, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5 series and the Audi A6.
The new car is expected to be priced between 50 and 60 lakh rupees ex-showroom upon launch
