Tata Motors today launched two new buses in the Indian Commercial Vehicle market. One of these, the Divo ultra luxury bus will be a direct competitor to the likes of Volvo B7R and Merc busses seen down south. The second of the new launch, the Starbus Ultra will cater to intra-city transport market.
The Divo sports some premium features like a HVAC, power steering, air suspension, ABS, DVD player system and two LCD screens. Powering the Divo is the ISBe 6.7 liter turbo charged, 285 bhp-970 Nm intercooled diesel engine from Cummins. The motor is mated to a six speed ZF manual transmission and can propel the bus to a top whack of 114 kmph. Divo has a best in class turning radius of 17.9 meters.Â
Talking about the Starbus Ultra city, the bus has a seating capacity of 25 people and has widest chassis in its class, hence, offering a lot of space. The Starbus Ultra is powered by a turbocharged, intercooled diesel engine that produces 123 Bhp-400 Nm and comes from the Tata 497. This bus has a max speed of 101 Kmph and comes with a six speed manual gearbox. Power steering comes as standard feature.
While the Divo comes with a price tag of INR 66 lakhs, the Starbus  Ultra goes for INR 22 lakhs. (All prices ex showroom Thane).
