A cheaper M Class might be headed our way

The M Class is surely in news these days. Only a couple of days ago, we reported that the AMG kitted version, which was a limited edition in our market, almost flew off the shelves. Now, it is being said that Mercedes-Benz India Limited might be working on bringing the ML 250 CDI to our roads. The current version, the 350 CDI, retails for almost INR 57 Lakhs (Ex-Showroom,Delhi) and the 250 CDI might undercut this version by a considerable amount. The 250 CDI is powered by a 2.2 Litre (vs 3.0 litre of 35 CDI) Common Rail Diesel Engine which is mated to a 7G-Tronic Gearbox with 4MATIC Drive System. This motor in 250 CDI generates as much as 204 PS of power and a healthy 500 Nm of torque. Mercedes says that this version of the car has the best in class fuel economy of 17 kmpl.

Mercedes might decide to do away with some of the features that we have seen on the ML 350 CDI and price the ML 250 CDI at a price under INR 50 lakhs.

Watch out for this space.
