BMW Motorrad the two wheeler wing of premium carmaker BMW, is planning to introduce the F650GS in India, reports Autocar India. The 798cc parallel twin engine powered off-roader, with a peak power output of 71 PS of peak power and 75Nm of peak torque is expected to arrive in May 2012. The F650 GS weighs at a rather heavy 200kg, but the healthy power, by Indian standards should make it one of the faster machines on two wheels here.
With its impeccable off-road credentials, the F650 should come as a great option for serious tourers who have the money the money to spare. The only trouble is the high 820mm of seat height which wouldn’t be very suitable for those with a short stature. The F650GS will come equipped with 17 inch wheels up front and 19 inchers at the rear, both alloys. Hardcore off-roaders may cry foul over the missing spoke wheels but for most others, the alloys would be more than enough to tackle any adversity thrown at them. The bike will have great tractability, easy riding position and a smooth, comfortable ride quality as its USPs. The bike will also be equipped with ABS to handle emergency situations more adeptly.
The bike will be introduced first by BMW Motorrad’s Mumbai dealer Navnit Motors. Expect a price tag ranging between Rs 8 to 10 lakh.

Not the Rotax – this is the same parallel twin which does duty in the bigger F800GS. Except for the front forks, suspension, engine tuning and wheels type and size, the F650GS and the F800GS are the same bike.
The single cylinder G650GS is the successor to the Funduro.
is this an original BMW engine or a Rotax?
Wierd, totally wierd. So now bmw has an F800GS with a in-line twin 798cc engine and also a so called 650cc Funduro with the same displacement in-line twin engine, thank god the power output isn't the same. What's wrong with BMW?
that is weird.. a Model 650 Bike with a 800cc engine.. They should have named it differently, like FZ800GS.
this is what I am waiting for…………………
