It is quite a well known fact that Toyota Kirloskar Motor, the Indian subsidiary of the very popular Japanese auto maker giant, intends to launch the latest gen 2014 Toyota Corolla in ever expanding Indian car market as soon as early next year. We reported in detail when the new Corolla was spotted testing in India earlier this week. Now, the latest gen Corollas has been again caught undergoing road tests in India. The car was seen by our friend and regular reader Thilak Roa in Karnataka.

Worth mentioning is the fact that the Corolla has been among the most successful brands to have ever come from Toyota. However, the earlier gen car, which is being sold in India with the Altis moniker, has been outsold by fresher rivals (read: Hyundai Elantra, VW Jetta, et al) in almost every country.

All this means that the latest gen Corolla is all the more important to Toyota.

The new 2014 Corolla sports a stylish LED headlamps, which are far more stylish than those we see in many cars on sale today. The car also gets a new set of 17-inch alloy wheels that sport twin-spoke design. It may be noted that the India spec Corolla comes equipped with “not-so-stylish” 15-inch alloy wheels. Overall, the car definitely looks several generations ahead of the Corolla we all have known and seems to be all poised to become the next style statement in its segment.

On the inside, the car will come with completely restyled panels and a new touch screen audio system which could very well provide social networking and news reports options!

Mechanically, the 2014 Toyota Corolla doesn’t see much of a change. Barring the addition of the new CVT gearbox for the 1.8 liter petrol engine, the car remains essentially the same in this department.

It remains to be seen if the new Corolla would be potent enough to get the better of the Elantra and the Jetta in Indian car market.
