The Bonneville Salt Flats is a densely packed salt pan in Tooele County in northwestern Utah, U.S.A. The area is a remnant of the Pleistocene Lake Bonneville and is the largest of many salt flats located west of the Great Salt Lake. The property is public land and is the place to head towards, if breaking land speed records is on your mind. There are five major land speed events that take place at the Bonneville Salt Flats. The Bonneville “Speed Week” is one of them.

This years “Speed Week” will witness two heavily modified Royal Enfield Continental GT’s trying to go as fast as they can in a straight line. The bikes are tweaked by performance tuner Matt Capri and have been modified for the event. They feature tuned camshafts, cylinder heads, throttle bodies, pistons and exhaust systems. Their compression ratio has been increased from 8:1 to 12:1. An advanced fuel injection system will ensure accurate fuel delivery. The modifications are expected to double to bhp figures of the Continental GT. In addition, to make the motorcycle more aerodynamic and attain higher top speeds, the bikes will be fitted with fairings.
